Hey Kids,

It’s that time of year again.  I looked at my calendar today and Thanksgiving is upon us. I always like to take some time and reflect on what I (we) have to be thankful for.

AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!!!

As most of you know our faith is very important to Debby and I so we like to pause and thank God for all the many blessings he has bestowed on us. So please indulge an old man in his ramblings.

With all the Barry Bonds/steroid and Michael Vick stuff going on I have been pondering the state of sports in America and in our society at large that produces such things.  At first I was a little disillusioned but then something occurred to me. Isn’t it great that we live in a country where we chastise these individuals? We disapprove of them and their actions. Isn’t it great that in America we  expect our heroes to be role models? We think character is important and doing the right thing is not optional.  We want our champions on the sports fields to be like knights of old. Winning ball games while standing for truth, justice and the American way.  Contrary to what the cynical media would have us believe.  We would rather embrace a Biggio than a Bonds. We want the ordinary to do extraordinary things.  We love our noble warriors – yet baseball would fine a Biggio for wearing his beloved Sunshine Kids logo – Isn’t it great that he did it anyways!!

This was an interesting year. We made it through another year. Two of our children have completed part of their education. Jeremy is almost finished with his Master’s and got married, working in Ft. Worth.  Sara got her BA and is working full-time in Lubbock while beginning her Master’s Program.  Joel is doing well at A & M and is competing on the A & M Handball Team and is the new Sports Director for Project Sunshine (children with disabilities)!!  Debby is working hard on a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science Technology.

I thank God that they are all doing so well!  He is truly watching over us!!

The shop has struggled this year – Basketball did not do well and Baseball was not strong enough. The loss of Donruss baseball has really hurt the hobby shops – Football has however been a very pleasant surprise. It is selling really well. Basketball should be good this year so lord willing business will be strong for the holidays.  As always we were able to survive another year. because of all the loyal and truly wonderful friends and customers who support our little family business.  I have really struggled about keeping the shop.  I ask myself why do I do it?  But I know why. Because so many of you are much more than customers – you are God sends – and you bless our lives greatly.  So we are thankful for YOU!!!

We are thankful for our servicemen and women who put it on the line for the rest of us!

We are thankful we live in the GREAT STATE OF TEXAS!!!  And our BELOVED AMERICA!!

As the holidays approach our family would like to wish all of you a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING,
AND A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!  Our prayer is that God blesses each and every one of you in the New Year!!

If you continue to bless us with your friendship Lord willing we will be writing this letter again next year!!
